"ART AS ARMOR"

Our Mission

Art of Valor, Inc. is an extensive program that delivers the services of Art Therapy, Financial Literacy Training, Mental Health resources, Holistic Wellness and Mentorship to veterans.

Veterans in New York City face a variety of uphill battles, including mental health challenges, physical health problems, and financial insecurity:
-
Physical health
There are some veterans experiencing injuries, hearing loss, and illnesses from toxic exposure. More than 60% of veterans report being rated as fully or partially disabled by the military or VA.
-
Financial insecurity
Veterans may face financial insecurity due to predatory loans, and service-related injuries.
-
Housing
Some veterans face housing issues when they are newly discharged. They may be unaware of housing benefits and vouchers they are entitled to.
-
Starting a business
Veterans may face challenges starting small businesses, but there are resources to help.
Brooklyn has 11,179 Vietnam era veterans,
5,303 Gulf War (1990–2001) veterans,
7,057 Gulf War (2001 or later) veterans,
and 2,169 Korean War veterans.

Creating An Impact

We are dedicated to the holistic and therapeutic healing of veterans in under-resourced communities.
Through our comprehensive programs and strong community networks, we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of our participants and the community at large.

Art Therapy
Creative expression through various art forms, themed workshops, therapeutic journaling, and collaborative art projects are just a few methods used to enhance mental wellness and foster healing for our veterans.
We are building relationships through art projects that promote understanding, empathy, and social cohesion.

Financial Literacy
We will equip veterans with the knowledge and skills needed for financial independence.
